The Kennedy Family Lewiston Monument Company

New to the Hall of Fame is the Kennedy Family of Lewiston Monument Company, who has a long history in Winona County,

The family has operated Lewiston Monument since 1919 and has served not only the people of Winona County those 106 years, but well beyond.

John D. (Jack) Kennedy founded the company as the first generation and was followed by his son Bernie Kennedy Sr. as the second generation, in 1945.  Bernie Sr.’s sons eventually joined the company – John in 1969, Bernie Jr. in 1978, and Jim in 1985  – as a third generation. Jim’s sons Lee and Cameron are now the fourth generation of the Kennedy family to join this longtime family business.

“My brother and I are lifetime residents of Winona County and plan to carry on the duties of this company for many years to come,” says Lee Kennedy,

Lee goes on to say that the company has done thousands of monuments and markers for families in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. The company website also notes that each customer will be treated with “respect, dignity and small-town hospitality”.

Today, markers and monuments are produced by many techniques that include sandblasting, sand carving, etching, shape carving, chiseling and plaque mounting.
